Pat Condell
Od niedawna oglądam kanał Pata Condella, niesamowicie inteligentnego starszego pana z dużym poczuciem humoru. Polecony mi na 2UP, znajduje się wysoko na liście najchętniej oglądanych klipów YouTube. Pan Condell znakomicie odzwierciedla w swoich zabarwionych komizmem monologach moje poglądy i sposób w jaki widzę świat. Wybrałem parę z nich poniżej.
What have I got against religion?
Another thing (against religion - editor) is this book, The Bible or The Holy Bible, as it's jokingly referred to, here on the front cover. The costume drama from hell, a mezmerizing soup of image and methaphore into which any fantasy can be read an by which any horror can be justified. They call The Bible ‘The Good Book’ and, yes, if you're looking for blood and guts, sadistic cruelty, meanness of spirit and general psychopatic insanity then this might be what you call ‘a good book’. This might be the book for you. But if you're looking at The Bible for a guide to living a compassionate, wise and humane life, well then – frankly – you've got more chance of finding a lap dancing club in Mekka or a virgin in a catholic orphanage.
Absolute certainty
It's unfortunate that many people on this planet seem to believe the very first thing they're told and stick with it for the rest of their life. Not only does it remain unexamined but any attempt to challenge it is taken as a grievous insult. Clearly those only few months and years of life are a very sensitive time. And whatever ideas are imprinted into the soft party of the young-formed mind at that stage stay there pretty much forever. And yet for some reason, here in the civilized world, it's still perfectly legal for us to indoctrinate our children with the most hateful and divisive absurdities it's possible to imagine.
The myth of Islamophobia
But I don't hate anyone. Because hate is for losers. Hate is just fear with attitude. If you hate something, you're afraid of it which makes you nothing but a big pussy. And whatever you hate and fear, you know you're gonna attact it because if you invest that much emotion in something, it's coming your way. The islamic fundamentialist - he hates America. America is coming his way. Here in Britain, we hate intolerance. Guess what's coming our way. This week the Queen of England was burned in effigy on the streets of Pakistan. Why? Because she gave a knighthood (…) to an author better known for his nuisance value then for his actual writing. It doesn't mean that he has to walk around in the suit of armor, although it might be advisable if he ever goes anywhere near Pakistan, where the government has declared this ‘an insult to Islam’. Well, I mean, what isn't these days.
United States of Jesus
Some people even went so far to call me an anti-American, which is gonna be the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Actually, I take that back, intelligent design is the stupidest thing I've ever heard, but that once runs a pretty close. Now, I'm not an anti-American, what I am is anti-stupidity, anti-ignorance and anti-bigotry and I suppose that could be construded anti-American if you're a stupid ignorant bigot but I think most of intelligent people would see it as a very pro-American. I do think it's a shame that America, like Britain, is govern by a criminals but there's not much we can do about that because we live in a democracy. What you're gonna do? Vote? Yeah, right. Good luck with that.
